Lewes for some fresh air and a spot of wandering, it was however a lot colder than it looked!!! Wish I'd taken more than my fingerless gloves after about... hmmm.. 20 minutes!! But I knew when we set off that I was taking my camera so figured the fingerless gloves would be a spot on choice.... oh well the cold meant I could get Mr J into more shops than I anticipated and he had already told me about the many cake shops and one in particular that he had in mind to re-visit when he first stumbled upon it whilst on a course in Lewes before Christmas.
Just before we found said cake shop on the opposite side of the road was a craft shop...yeah, maybe they would have the Needles and Crochet hook that I had been after? (Knitting Needle, yes Crochet Hook, no.....) for a fab project in issue Ten of Mollie Makes - Crocheted Wrist Warmers.
Whilst, I was checking out the Knitting needles I did find a beginner's pack of Needle Felting, which I have been wanting to try ever since seeing Kirsty behaving like an excited child on her series where Jayne Emerson showed her how to make the little Needle felt Robin.
So, when I left the shop with a bag full of crafting goodies it was straight into the cake shop for sustenance and a leisurely walk back to the car to head home for tea, cake and a venture into new crafting territory.
Below is my very first attempt at Needle felting and yes I was as excited as Kirsty and have definitely caught the bug!!!..... I think more insects will follow (baby steps you know....or should that be bug steps).
I'm thinking about attaching them to some florist's wire and when Mr J next buys me some flowers (big hint...) I'll pop them in amongst the blooms.
What do you think? Have you tried a new craft lately, would love to hear how you got on with it?
They fit into the palm of my hand (about 4cm long)
Lewes on a cold January Morning.
Some beautiful buildings found in the town.
