Crafty Birthday Treat

Like a lot of crafters I’ve become slightly (ok… more than slightly but not quite obsessed…..) with Pinterest and recently came across a pin which was originally on Etsy. Although, I’m sure I can recall seeing something very similar in ‘Not on the High Street’ one of my favourite catalogues to peruse.

Anyhow, it struck me that this would be the ideal gift for a friend’s birthday and so I set to work. I found the paper in my local Wilkinson’s which saved me a trip to Hobby Craft (and money as I always come out of there with much more than was on my list!!)

Although, I did go to Hobbycraft to try to find a butterfly design paper punch which they did have but not the size that I wanted.

So I had to make my own stencil (I drew the butterfly freehand) and then made my own stencil from some stiff card and drew this onto the paper and hand cut the butterflies out with a craft knife.

Once I had the right amount for the size of the picture frame I went to my local Picture Frame shop and the owner hand cut the circle mount that I wanted for the frame.

I then glued all of the butterflies onto some coloured paper that I cut to size for the frame.

This is the result and I’m pleased to say that my friend was thoroughly loved her gift.

So, much so that she’s asked me to make another as a present for one of her friends birthdays…….. oh dear what have I started.

Have you had a crafty success
Would love to hear about them or see some pics
